Pull Weight for CMC Ar15/10 Single Stage Burnt Bronze
CMC Triggers offers a variety of trigger pull weights, from 2.5lb to 6.5lb. A lighter trigger pull can enhance precision and speed, allowing for quicker follow-up shots, making it ideal for competitive shooting and precise applications. Conversely, a heavier pull weight provides an added measure of safety, helping to prevent accidental discharges, particularly beneficial for novice shooters or in home defense situations.
2.5 – 3.5 LB
Lighter trigger pulls (2.5-3.5 pounds) are often preferred for precision and competition shooting. They require less force, which can help improve accuracy and reduce fatigue over long shooting sessions.
3.5 – 4.5 LB
A medium trigger pull weight (3.5-4.5 pounds) is often suitable for hunting. This weight balances the need for precision with the necessity of safety, ensuring reliable performance in the field.
4.5 – 6.5 LB
Heavier trigger pulls (4.5-6.5 pounds) are generally recommended for home defense, tactical situations, or general use. They reduce the likelihood of accidental discharge under stress.
Pin Type
CMC Triggers offers all versions of their Drop-in AR Trigger in SMALL PIN, LARGE PIN, and M&P 15-22 COMPOSITE PIN. If you are still unsure of the pin diameter needed for your rifle you can take a measurement by pressing a pin far enough out of the receiver to measure its diameter, .172 Ø for LARGE and .154 Ø for SMALL.
Note: Do not exceed 12 in-lb on the pinset screws. Not applicable to Component Triggers
SMALL PIN (.154 Ø)
If your AR rifle is NOT a Colt or your Colt was first available before 1991 or after 2009, it will take a SMALL PIN.
LARGE PIN (.172 Ø)
Colt is the only AR brand to produce both small and large diameter pins in their triggers. Colt AR-15 rifles produced between 1991 and late 2009 commonly take a LARGE PIN.
M&P 15-22 COMPOSITE
The Smith & Wesson® M&P® 15-22 or any wider than the standard receiver will use a SMALL PIN diameter but requires a longer pin length and will take an M&P 15-22 COMPOSITE PIN.
Trigger Stage Type
Single Stage Trigger
A single stage trigger requires one range of motion to pull the trigger in order to release the hammer. The benefit of a single stage trigger is that it’s simple. Most shooters agree that a single stage trigger is crisper in the break of the trigger. This is because you don’t feel the initial resistance of the first stage.
However, a majority of shooters prefer the single stage triggers for most applications.
Two Stage Trigger
Two stage triggers require the shooter to pull the trigger until it hits a “break wall,” which is a stopping point between the first and second stages. Similar to taking up the slack as some people call it, the two stage trigger then breaks during the second stage after hitting the break wall.
Also, the benefit of a two stage trigger is that the shooter knows at exactly what point the trigger will break and is usually preferred on a DMR or marksman style bench-rest rifle.
To conclude, your CMC Trigger (CMC Ar15/10 Single Stage Burnt Bronze) should last a lifetime with proper care. If your trigger should ever need adjustment, please return it for repair or replacement.
